Here at Quality Controlled Floor Systems LLC, we prefer to use a type of concrete known as gypsum concrete in many of our projects. Our team has over 80 years of combined experience in this industry, and we choose to use gypsum concrete because we believe in providing the best possible solutions for our customers.

How Does Gypsum Concrete Compare to Regular Concrete?

There are several notable benefits of using gypsum concrete over standard concrete, and we’d like to take the time to review a couple key advantages below.

  • Comparable durability: Both gypsum concrete and standard concrete offer lasting durability and are highly resistant to heavy traffic, impacts, and other common hazards.
  • Highly versatile: Regular concrete can be used for load-bearing structures such as driveways, walls, and foundations. Gypsum concrete is lighter than standard concrete, so it can be easily used in underlayment or subflooring, balconies, and other applications. It’s especially beneficial for multi-story and commercial buildings.
  • Noise reduction: Regular concrete is known for its strength, durability, and versatility. Gypsum concrete adds to that a mix of additional benefits of noise reduction and fire resistance. The crystallized water the gypsum material contains turns to gas under extreme temperatures to create a fire barrier.
  • Ease of installation: Regular concrete can take time to be poured and cured. Gypsum concrete takes significantly less time and is far easier to install due to its lightweight nature. This can make it an especially great option if you have a smaller timeframe for your concrete project.
